Before the first class I was somewhat apprehensive due to previous injuries . Christa’s calming and caring demeanor, her expertise in yoga and kinesiology and emphasis on correct breathing (stress reduction) have enabled me to participate successful resulting in much less pain and greater flexibility!

ASK US A QUESTION

We want you to know …

  1. You CAN do yoga. No matter what shape or size your body is, you can do yoga. If you have an injury or medical concern, haven’t exercised in years, or are feeling the natural effects of aging, you can do yoga. We’ll show you how to approach the poses for your 1-in-7-billion body.

  2. Yoga is NOT about twisting yourself into a pretzel, and especially not in Beginner’s yoga. It’s about taking time to pause, breathe and connect to yourself so that you can be more present in your life. We’ll never push or pull you into a position for the sake of “getting you into a pose.” Instead, we’ll give you options, and encourage you to feel into what’s best for your body.

  3. You don't need to be flexible. But you will get more flexible - this is one of the great benefits of yoga. The more you do it, the better it will feel. Practicing yoga poses for beginners will get you started on the right foot.

  4. Let yourself be a beginner, especially if you are. Try to leave your self-criticism at the door and just allow yourself to move, to try new things and to learn.

  5. You do not need a yoga mat or yoga props. We provide mats, blocks, straps and blankets at no charge.

  6. Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in.

  7. Leave your cell phone in the car or turned off in one of the studio's provided storage cubbies. Let this time be just for you without the distractions of technology.

  8. Please remove your shoes before entering the yoga studio. This is to keep the studio as clean as possible, and to respect the sacredness of the space.

  9. The more often you practice, the greater the benefits will be and the more you will feel the difference in your mind and body. Once a week is great if that’s what your schedule allows. We recommend 2-3 times a week if possible.

  10. Bring a water bottle with you. We provide a filtered water cooler to refill your personal water bottle.

  11. Wondering if you’ll be able to do all the beginner yoga moves? Do YOU. Don't worry about what your poses look like. Every body is different and postures will look different in everyone's body. Your instructor will help you make adjustments to find the pose expression that feels best in YOUR body - no need to compare yourself to others.

  12. There’s no judgement or expectation here. Not ever. Kindred Yoga is a friendly, warm, accepting community. We welcome newcomers with open arms and we hope you will love our yoga family as much as we do.

  13. We suggest arriving 10 minutes early to ease in and give yourself enough time to sign in, select yoga props, and set up your practice space.

We can’t wait to see you for our next yoga for beginners in our North Wales, PA studio.
